Vancouver debut at the BC Home + Garden Show, happening February 17-21 at BC
Place Stadium. The 45th annual show is shaping up to be the event of the season
for gardening and landscaping lovers alike, starting with the star of HGTV’s Home to Win. Here he offers up his top
outdoor renovation tips to get your garden into tip-top shape.
Herewith, Carson's top three tips to complete your outdoor renovation the right way:
1. Be selfish. Renovations should always accomplish two things - they should meet the current needs of you and your family, and they should increase the value of your home. The last thing you should do is renovate a space because it will appeal to future buyers - think about your needs first.
2. Start with the living spaces. Think decks, patios, and balconies. Make an area that you really want to spend time in, and then start to add the furniture, the plants, and the barbecue. Too often homeowners today start with the plants and the gardens and then realize that they haven’t left enough room for all of their guests.
3. Stage your renovation. It is easy to spend a lot of money outdoors. Instead of going into debt, plan your renovations over a 2-3 year period. The key to doing this though is to have a blueprint to guide you along the way, so you know what the end result is going to look like.
